Privacy
What we do with your details.
One form, one purpose. We collect what we need to reply to you and nothing else, we do not sell it, and you can have it deleted by asking. This page says exactly what happens, in plain English, because a privacy notice nobody can read is not a privacy notice.
Who we are
The Conversion runs theconversion.co.uk and is the data controller for anything you send through it. For anything on this page, write to matt@theconversion.co.uk.
What we collect, and why
Only what the contact form sends. There is no account to create, no tracking pixel, and nothing gathered in the background as you browse.
- Your name
- So we can reply to a person rather than an address.
- Your email address
- So we can reply at all, and to confirm the message arrived.
- Your business name
- Optional. It tells us who we would be working with.
- What you need
- Optional. It tells us whether we can help before we waste your time.
- Your message
- Optional. It is the part that actually matters.
- Where you arrived from
- The page or search that led you here, so we know which of our efforts are worth repeating.
- Your browser and device type
- So we can tell whether the site is broken on something we have not tested.
- A one-way scrambled version of your IP address
- To stop one person or a bot submitting the form hundreds of times. It is hashed, so it identifies a repeat submitter without us holding the address itself.
Why we are allowed to
Legitimate interests. You contacted a business asking it to get in touch, and replying to you is the obvious consequence of that. You can object at any time and we will stop.
Cookies
This site sets no cookies at all. No analytics, no advertising, no third-party scripts watching you. Nothing to accept, which is why there is no banner asking you to. If that ever changes, we will ask before anything is set, not after.
Who else sees it
Three companies, and only because the site needs them to work. None of them are allowed to use your details for their own purposes.
- Supabase
- Stores your enquiry in a database. London, United Kingdom.
- Resend
- Sends the confirmation email to you and the notification to us. Ireland, European Union.
- Vercel
- Hosts the website and processes the form submission. Global network, with European regions used for this site.
We do not sell your details, and we do not send you marketing you did not ask for.
How long we keep it
24 months from your last contact with us, then it is deleted. If you become a client, we keep what we need for the work and for our accounts, which is a legal requirement rather than a choice.
What you can ask us to do
- Ask what we hold about you, and get a copy
- Have anything wrong corrected
- Have it deleted
- Object to us holding it at all
- Ask us to send it to you or someone else in a portable form
- Complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, at ico.org.uk
Email matt@theconversion.co.uk and we will do it. No form to fill in, no month of waiting.
Changes
If this changes, the date at the top changes with it. We will not quietly start doing something this page says we do not.
